Details on how to join the broomball team for the 2009 tournament.
Did you ever wish you could play hockey but there were to many obstacles? Why not try broomball. You'll have a chance to meet other booster club members, get away for a weekend and have a great time!!!
WHAT IS BROOMBALL?
It is a game similar to hockey. Instead of skating broomball players run on ice with specially designed shoes. Instead of a stick and puck players use a broom (a stick with a rubber padle on the end). Checking is not allowed however sometimes there is incidental contact.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any male or female member of the PROVIDENCE BRUINS FAN CLUB 18 years of age and older is eligible to participate. You will also have to sign a HOLD HARMLESS AGREEMENT before the first broomball practice and or event.
PRACTICE/ICETIME?
The cost for all practices is shared by all broomball team members. (When a person signs up for the broomball team he/she will also pay for there club membership if not already a member). All team members will owe half the cost for practices by the first scheduled practice, the balance will be due sometime in January.
EQUIPMENT?
Each player is responsible for acquiring there own equipment. There are special shoes for broomball which can be purchased through th team. HELMETS are MANDATORY, shin pads and elbow pads are optional but recommended.
TOURNAMENT FEE/ACCOMADATIONS?
Each year booster clubs that have a team meet for a tournament, usually a weekend in July. All fees associated with the tournament are shared by all team members. Fund raisers are being planned to help defray the cost. You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the tournament but you can carpool with other team members to lower this expense. The host team will usually book a block of rooms and will give each team information which is then passed on to each player. The reservations are made by the individual player. Teamates can share rooms to reduce the price.
BANQUET?
After the tournament there is a banquet and awards ceremony. Cost of the banquet is paid by individual team members. If you bring a guest who is attending they need to be paid for as well.
